Celebs and Hip Hop Fun

Gordon, Matt & I at Powerhouse

I've never been much of a pro basketball fan. St. Louis doesn't have a pro team, and college basketball was always more interesting and fun because well, there are plenty of college teams around to follow, such as SLU and Mizzou.

I have found myself sucked into the Lakers kool-aid, which I suppose isn't a bad thing, since they are back-to-back champs. My radio station does so much with the Lakers, in fact, the Lakers love our station. That is how I got to meet Ron Artest, pictured below.

Katie & Ron Artest

Ron Artest came to the studios the day after the Lakers big win to appear on our morning show, and of course, promote his song "Champion." He was very nice, of course who wouldn't be after winning a world championship ring? I had a little Laker bear at my desk that the previous sales assistant left behind for me so I had him sign it. Pretty cool!

Last Saturday was Powerhouse, my station's biggest concert event of the year. It was held at the Honda Center in Anaheim (where the Ducks play, which I can't help it, every time I hear or see the Anaheim Ducks I hear Emilio Estevez saying "ducks fly together!" Thank you, Walt Disney).

It was a fantastic show. We had a solid line-up featuring Jason Derulo, B.o.B, Bruno Mars, Trey Songz, Drake, P Diddy, Ne-yo, Snoop Dogg and others. Quite a different show from the rock shows I'm used to! It was great though. All of the artists gave excellent performances, got the crowd into it and then we had some special guests. P Diddy was one, he wasn't originally on the lineup. Oscar de la Hoya, Ron Artest, Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant, and Warren G showed up as well. So we had 3 of the Lakers on site for the concert. Sadly, I did not get to meet anyone this time, I didn't have a backstage pass. However, I enjoyed the show immensely. It was super fun.

Snoop Dogg!

Last week also marked semi-annual sale at Vicki's. Needless to say, it was quite an exhausting week! This week I have my first book club meeting. I found a women's book club group on meetup.com that meets in Burbank and they're all young females and the theme is to read chick novels, so it's fun. Thought it would be a great way to keep reading and also meet other people.

That's all for now peeps. Am glad I am enjoying the beautiful Cali weather. I've heard it's nightmarishly hot and humid back in the Lou!
